This service is the first in a series of training lectures designed to delve into the latest advancements in design and planning technologies, and to review the overall construction industry’s digital transition challenges. The present presentation, titled “Revolutionizing Construction: Embracing BIM for enhanced Efficiency and Cost savings,” provides a detailed introduction of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology and its transformative advantages over traditional construction methodologies.
The training provides a clear definition of BIM, outlining its core principles, legislative framework intention and how it represents a significant shift from conventional 2D drafting techniques. The session focuses on a detailed comparison between BIM and traditional architectural and construction drafting methods. It emphasizes how BIM’s 3D modelling capabilities offer a more accurate and tangible representation of projects, enhancing and optimising the output of the design, planning and execution phases. The training also highlights the collaborative aspect of BIM, demonstrating how it fosters a more integrated approach among architects, engineers, and contractors, leading to improved communication and project outcomes. A major focus of the session is on the cost benefits associated with BIM. We will analyse how BIM contributes to substantial reductions in errors and reworks, thereby reducing costs. Additionally, we will understand how the time efficiency brought about by BIM accelerates project timelines, leading to faster completions and reduced labour hours.
