The Smart Paphos 360° Hackathon, organised by DiGiNN in collaboration with the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo (AUB), invites university students to develop technology-driven ideas that support the city’s digital and sustainable transformation.
Under the overarching theme “Sustainable Urban Development of Pafos,” participants will work in teams to design innovative solutions that address real municipal challenges, combining creativity, collaboration, and technology for a better urban future.
Objectives
The hackathon aims to:
- Encourage innovation and experimentation using digital technologies.
- Address real challenges faced by the Municipality of Pafos.
- Promote collaboration between students, academia, and local stakeholders.
- Generate ideas and prototypes with potential for real-world implementation.
- Increase awareness of digital transformation and sustainability within the city.
Theme & Challenge Areas
Participants will explore ideas and solutions that contribute to the Sustainable Urban Development of Pafos across five thematic areas:
- Smart City & Urban Development
- Tourism & Cultural Heritage Preservation
- Environmental Sustainability
- Public Safety & Cybersecurity
- Social Services & Citizen Engagement

Workshops are exclusively open to registered hackathon participants and aim to prepare them for effective collaboration and presentation during the event.
Participation
The hackathon is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Participants may register individually or as part of a team of up to five members. Individual participants will be matched with others during the team formation process.
